My story begins in Oradea, in 1973. For as long as I can remember, I have been drawn to the natural beauty of the Apuseni Mountains, which I visited many times as a child and as a teenager. Once I had walked every path and explored every cave, I set off to see the rest of the world. That is how I came to work all over the country, in the finest casinos there were.
But the adventure did not stop there. My career as a croupier gave me more than the pleasure of working with people: it is how I met my wife. Carried away by youth, at 27 we left on a long voyage around the world – still as croupiers.
We spent years on cruise ships, surrounded by travellers, yet our hearts had stayed at home. We sailed around the Caribbean, Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, the United States, Morocco, Israel, Greece, Russia, Spain, England, Malaysia, Thailand and Mexico, to name just a few.
In 2015 we said enough. I came home, bought a patch of land in the Arieș Valley, and we began laying brick upon brick to build our dream.
The guesthouse
Set in the Vârtop holiday village, 300 m from the ski slope and close to many mountain trails and sights, Piatra Grăitoare aims to be a small corner of paradise in a remarkable natural setting. From the very beginning we wanted to offer every guest high-quality service in a warm, friendly atmosphere. Our efforts did not go unnoticed: in 2016 we received a Guest Review Award from Booking.com, with a score of 9.2 out of 10.
The rooms combine the classic style of mountain lodges with modern, minimalist bathrooms. Because we think of you, every room has a balcony, each with its own view of the surroundings. A life spent in hospitality has taught us that attention to detail, spotless rooms and real comfort are what make a stay perfect.
We are ambitious, and we want to give our guests the very best. That is why we keep looking for new ways to surprise you pleasantly.
